ABOUT THE VIDEOS
***VIDEOS will be split into short clips.
The sample clips posted here are complete video clips.
In class, the entire video will usually be split into short clips focusing on one grammar point or a simple expression or a very short conversation that the student can memorize easily. There will be written and oral exercises and quick quizzes about the media shown afterwards.
ABOUT THE SESSIONS (GROUP or PRIVATE one-on-one)
Each session will usually be divided into several segments:
The instructor will always bring with him a laptop/laptops that the student may also use when necessary.
NOTE:
**SPEAKING EXERCISES
The students may OPT to be recorded on video as they try to imitate how to speak like a native. This will encourage students to DO THEIR BEST in every practice because they know they will be seen on video (by themselves or by other people). Again, this is optional. If the students are too shy, the instructor can just record their voice.
This video recording is highly recommended because it will enable the students to compare their pronunciation, accent, facial expressions and gestures to those of the native speakers.
The files will be given to them via USB for future use [i.e. for review, for fun {'to laugh at'} etc ). Their recorded videos WILL NOT be distributed or uploaded without their permission.
ASIDE FROM THE VIDEOS, a CD-ROM and a BOOK following a syllabus will also be used as main references.

Each session will usually be divided into several segments:
SEGMENTS
1. 'SHORT, SIMPLE SNIPPETS'
>>> the instructor will show short & quick clips of speakers uttering a word or expression.
The students will have to repeat and try to learn them by heart. There will be flashcards to test data retention a few minutes after a new set of words or expressions are introduced.

2. GRAMMAR THROUGH POP
>>> POP CULTURE SNIPPETS (e.g. popular music, sports, showbiz, movies, art, politics, food, 'kiddy' stuff etc) focusing on a particular grammatical point/theme.

3. CUTE DIC
>>> The dictionary that will be used for the class is called a CUTE DICTIONARY or CUTE DIC for short. The entries will either be in an alphabetical or thematical order depending on the proficiecy level. Aside from being a print-ready softcopy, the CUTE DIC entries will also be in 'flash cards form' or in form of short and quick video clip-snippets.
4. COOL EXPRESSIONS
>>> colloquial expressions (e.g. witty/funny/insulting remarks, one-liners, jokes and other very useful expressions in different situations etc)
>>> The students will be asked to reenact certain scenes or utter a few lines. They may also opt to be recorded on video.
5. PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT
>>> As some of us Filipinos facetiously say "They say 'Practice makes perfect... but nobody is perfect, so why practice?" (popularized by the movie TANGing INA NYONG LAHAT)
Well, kidding aside, we can say that "Practice makes 'permanent'". With regular repetitive practice (in various exciting and edutaining ways), the new information learned will soon be permanently stored in our brain as a part of our long-term memory.
This segment may include 'SPEAKING EXERCISE, ' 'GAMES, ' 'INTER-ACTIVE VIDEO or AUDIO QUIZ, etc aiming to encourage the students to practice everything that they have learned in class but ALSO OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM. Students will be assigned interesting assignments and tasks that will require them to use it everywhere (and not just inside the classroom)
***VARIOUS GAMES
e.g. GUESS WHAT I'LL SAY : A short video clip will be shown to students featuring a native speaker in a particular situation. The instructor will pause the video before the speaker say the 'catch phrase.' The students have to guess what the native speaker will say. They may also be (optional)
*There are other 'quick games' that will guarantee data retention but there will only be one game per session
6. SURPRISE, SURPRISE!
This is something spontaneous that may or may not be included in each session (that's why it's called as such - because you'll never know when you'll have it)
This can be a visit by a native speaker (e.g. blue-eyed blond French hunk or babe will approach you and test your knowledge in French, if your Target Language/TL is French)
or the instructor bringing (and sharing) foreign dish/cuisine in the country (e.g Coq au vin, Belgian fries (authentic 'French fries), omelette au fromage, RAMEN, bulgogi with kimchi, Sauerkraut plus jumbo frankfurter sausage, etc) where the target language is spoken, etc.
